Animal Abuse

Abusing animals is a crime that innocent animals are faced with. Animal cruelty is the mistreatment of animals. It is done purposefully and it is against the law. This happens more often than some people would want to believe. Animal abuse takes place anywhere and can happen at any time.

The mistreatment of animals is far too prevalent  in our modern day. In recent events several mishaps were reported. The Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, owned by Feld Entertainment is now going out of business. Reports and eyewitness accounts say they saw tigers, elephants and many other circus animals being neglected and abused.  Icanimal.org  reported this occurrence and this organization even announced their contemptment with the circus having their final show on May 2017. The LCA stated, “On behalf of the animals, we are ecstatic about this victory. Ringling fought to continue the circus despite continuous exposure of animal cruelty and public outcry. It’s been a long, grueling battle, but LCA always knew that we would prevail and make a difference.” After seeking ways to uncover the truth about how the animals are being treated they are satisfied with the circus shutting down. Animals being constantly neglected in the public eye should not be a form of entertainment. This wasn’t the only event in the news lately. It was discovered, by TMZ reporters, that a German Shepherd used in the upcoming movie ‘A Dog’s Purpose’ was being forced to participate in activities it didn’t want to. In the video taken at the time it’s clear to see the animal doesn’t want to go in the water. One scene was shot in an area of rushing water. The dog was required to jump into the water but in the recording the German Shepherd is obviously uncomfortable with going inside. People are seen dragging and pushing the dog. Eventually the dog ends up in the water but is having a difficult time swimming do to the forceful waves and water pressure. At one point it’s about to drown and movie staff quickly goes in to help it out.  This animal would not have almost drowned and gone through that unwanted experience, if it wasn’t for the movie. This movie was shot for the entertainment value but the movie’s creators neglected to be aware of how this pet felt.

The mistreatment of animals should not be taken too lightly. Animals are innocent and are clueless at times as to what is going on. But they are aware when they are being neglected. Neglected animals face trauma and may need treatment if the case of abuse is severe. Animals need attention and compassion is a necessity when caring for a pet or any animal in general.
